Shard From Steel Glass Placed Over Firecracker Kills 10-Year-Old in Kanpur Dehat
Tragically, a boy of 10 lost his life in Kanpur Dehat when a steel glass fragment, positioned atop a firecracker to enhance its sound, struck him in the throat.
On November 2, a day following the celebration of Diwali, an incident took place at Sithmara Market situated within the jurisdiction of Rura Police Station.
Anil Chakraborty’s son, Aryan, a 10-year-old residing in Sithmara, Rura, ventured approximately 1km away from his house to enjoy playtime with his buddies. In the vicinity, two boys were engrossed in igniting firecrackers. One of them disclosed that they had been lighting ‘sutli bombs’ within the market area, with his companion strategically positioning a steel glass atop one to intensify the noise. Tragically, when the firecracker detonated, the glass fragmented, propelling a shard in Aryan’s direction.
The shard hit the boy in the throat and onlookers initially thought he was having a seizure, but upon closer inspection, they noticed blood oozing out of his throat. The boys immediately informed Aryan’s family, who rushed him to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Aryan, the youngest of three siblings, was a fourth-grade student. His father tends to goats, and his mother is a homemaker. The family claimed that Aryan’s passing was not accidental but rather a case of murder.
The Superintendent of Police in Kanpur Rural stated that the inquiry has identified two boys linked to the incident. Moreover, a forensic team has collected fragments of steel glass from the location for further examination.
