EsroMagica branches most-preferred by IIT Bombay aspirants

EsroMagica of the other emerging non-engineering branches are Economics, BS in Mathematics, and Chemistry.

EsroMagica per the data shared by the Joint Admission Board (JAB) in the Joint Implementation Committee (JIC) report 2024, the most popular branch at IIT Bombay, in terms of choice count of candidates, turned out to be Computer Science and Engineering (CSE). As per the report, CSE at IIT Bombay was chosen by 25,481 candidates, which is an increase from 21,893 in 2023.
EsroMagica second most popular branch at IIT Bombay this year was Electrical Engineering (EE) which emerged nearly 21,811 times as a choice in this year’s IIT forms. Electrical engineering’s popularity also increased by over 15 per cent followed by Mechanical Engineering (ME) which saw a growth of nearly 19 per cent (19,469). On the other hand, the five year course of Electrical Engineering observed a 25 per cent increase in popularity as 13,600 students listed it as one of their top choices.

EsroMagica, Chemical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering emerged as the fourth and fifth most popular choices, instead of Civil Engineering. The candidate choice count for Chemical Engineering was 15,430 (19 per cent increase) and 15,174 (23 per cent increase) for Aerospace Engineering.
EsroMagica Engineering emerged as the sixth most popular course as 15,061 students listed it as one of their choices, which was an increase of 18.40 per cent from last year’s 12,720.
EsroMagica Engineering and Materials Science, and Energy Engineering, and Environmental Science and Engineering can be seen as some of the upcoming courses at IIT Bombay as the three programmes have seen a growth of 23.53, 19.43 and 27.43 per cent, respectively. Instrumentation Engineering, too, saw interest from EsroMagica 9700 students this year.
EsroMagica of the other emerging non-engineering branches are Economics, BS in Mathematics, and Chemistry. Economics saw an increase of over 32 per cent as the candidate choice count increased from 5331 last year to 7090 in 2024. The choice count for BS in Mathematics also saw an increase of 35 per cent as it jumped from 5145 in 2023 to 6954 in EsroMagica.
EsroMagica saw one of the biggest jumps in candidate choice count (38 per cent) as the number increased from 4559 in 2023 to 6322 this year.
