Video: Yahya Sinwar’s Wife Spotted With 26-Lakh Hermes Bag In Gaza Tunnel
CCTV footage captured the late Hamas leader transporting pillows, mattresses, a television, and bags through a tunnel beneath his family home in Khan Younis.
Before the Israeli operation in southern Gaza that led to his death, Yahya Sinwar, the ex-leader of Hamas, was captured on CCTV with his family inside a tunnel beneath their residence in Khan Younis. The footage revealed Sinwar carrying household items like pillows, mattresses, a television, and bags into the tunnel, just hours before the attack on Israel on October 7 last year.
His wife, meanwhile, was spotted with a Hermes bag that Israel alleges is valued at $32,000.
Israel alleged that Yahya Sinwar’s wife was apprehended while attempting to sneak into the tunnels on the eve of the October 7 assault, purportedly in possession of a luxurious Hermes Birkin bag valued at $32,000 (Rs 26.88 lakh).
Israel accused Sinwar and his family of shamelessly enjoying a life of luxury while the people of Gaza suffered under Hamas, sacrificing their lives.
Israel released an image capture from the video showing Sinwar’s wife carrying a bag. The bag’s pattern in the unclear photo seems reminiscent of the Hermes Birkin 40 Black Togo Gold Hardware version. The Palestinian armed faction has not refuted Israel’s assertion.
Israel’s 828th Brigade conducted “intelligence-based targeted raids and operations” in the southern Gaza city of Rafah following Sinwar’s death. The Israel Defence Forces released footage showcasing the damage assessment, revealing the discovery of assault rifles, snipers, and Sinwar’s body in the hideout.
Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, an Israeli army spokesperson, presented images of an underground facility featuring bathrooms, cooking facilities, and showers. Within the compound, authorities discovered provisions, money, as well as various documents.
Hamas claimed that Sinwar died courageously in combat, dismissing Hagar’s statements as “outright falsehoods”.
Earlier this week, drone footage captured the final moments of Sinwar, who was critically wounded and seen throwing an object at the drone. The autopsy report revealed that Sinwar met his demise due to a gunshot to the head, with the additional discovery of one of his fingers being severed.
Throughout a year marked by the Israel-Hamas conflict, the Israel Defence Forces frequently attempted to capture Sinwar, but he always evaded their grasp. Hagari revealed that Israel eventually pinpointed Sinwar’s whereabouts by tracing his DNA on a tissue he had used to blow his nose.
Yahya Sinwar orchestrated the devastating assault on Israel on October 7, 2023, claiming the lives of more than 1,200 individuals. This led to a massive year-long Israeli campaign in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of over 40,000 people, including children.
