In various regions such as Germany, Thailand, and Australia, YouTube is experimenting with the Premium Lite subscription service.

YouTube, the globally renowned video streaming service, has commenced trials for a novel premium lite membership tier that offers reduced ads at a 50% discount compared to the full premium subscription.

Jonahmanzano, a Threads user, revealed that YouTube Premium Lite is priced at $8.99 monthly, making it nearly 50% more affordable than the standard premium plan at $16.99. Yet, it remains uncertain whether an annual subscription option will be offered for YouTube Premium Lite.

At present, there is a lack of details regarding the potential availability of the YouTube Premium Lite subscription in India. The standard premium package is priced at Rs 149 per month, but should YouTube Premium Lite debut in the market, it could potentially be offered at around Rs 75.

Amid the recent surge in YouTube premium subscription fees, YouTube is rolling out a new option called YouTube premium lite that promises a reduced ad experience. As per The Verge, this trimmed-down subscription model is being trialed in specific regions such as Germany, Thailand, and Australia.

Per the official comparison chart, YouTube Premium Lite guarantees an ad-free viewing experience for the majority of videos. Nevertheless, users can expect to encounter advertisements in music-related content and short clips. Regrettably, subscribers to YouTube Premium Lite will forego certain perks such as ad-free streaming on YouTube Music, offline downloads, and background playback.

In 2021, YouTube began experimenting with the Premium Lite subscription tailored for the European market, but ultimately decided to halt the service prior to its official launch.
